Each year, the ASSC hosts two major events: the Annual Conference on South Carolina Archaeology, and a public Fall Field Day. Visit the following pages to learn more about these events and see a full calendar of events in South Carolina archaeology. We hope to see you soon!
About Archaeology Month
Archaeology Month is an annual, month-long event filled with numerous events celebrating South Carolina’s archaeology. This event takes place in October and EVERYONE is invited to attend. Available programs include: exhibits, demonstrations, tours, lectures, dining, canoe trips, artifact identification, lantern tours, and much, much, more at archaeological and historic sites located throughout South Carolina.
This event would not be possible without the help of numerous volunteers and organizations. More information will be made available as Archaeology Month approaches. Visit here to read about last year’s Archaeology Month. For further information about South Carolina Archaeology Month or to sponsor an event during the Archaeology Field Day, please contact Nena Powell Rice, Director of Outreach, at (803) 777-8170 or nrice@sc.edu.
