Fall Field Day

Each fall the Archaeological Society of South Carolina hosts a free event featuring various archaeological and historical demonstrations to educate our community as to how the people of South Carolina’s distant and recent pasts experienced their daily lives through work, play, food, and community.

2023 Fall Field Day

Come see us at our 36th Annual Fall Field Day! This event will be held at the 12,000 Year History Park in Cayce, SC. Join the South Carolina archaeological community for a family-friendly day of activities and demonstrations. This event is free and open to everyone!

After two years of virtual Fall Field Day events, the ASSC is thrilled to announce that this year’s 35th Annual Fall Field Day will be held in-person at the 12,000 Year History Park! Join the South Carolina archaeological community for a family-friendly day of activities and demonstrations. This event is free and open to everyone!

2021 Fall Field Day

We are excited to announce that we will be back in person for Fall Field Day this 2021!

Each fall the Archaeology Society of South Carolina sponsors a free gathering of archaeologists, prehistoric and historic skills demonstrators, story tellers, and others, who present how the people of South Carolina’s distant and recent pasts experienced their daily lives through work, play, food, and community.

This year we will be returning to the 12,000 Year History Park on Congaree Creek to enjoy archaeology demonstrations from around the Southeast! We will have a dozen unique demonstrators along with a guided tour and GPR demonstration at the Congaree Creek archaeological site. The event is family-friendly and a unique opportunity to learn about the many different jobs in the field of archaeology!

2020 Fall Field Day

Due to the continuing danger posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Archaeological Society of South Carolina has decided not to hold an in-person event for Fall Field Day. Instead, we will be hosting a virtual event here on our Facebook page during October to celebrate Archaeology Month. So stay tuned to this page for lots of fun and exciting content!

SEED is an annual event at USC Aiken featuring a diverse array of science activities from all over the south. We are thrilled to once again be joining this wonderful event and hope all of you can join us again in Aiken this October!
